# About CarGlassFix

Hi, I’m **Alex** — and I’ve probably spent more hours staring at cracked windshields than most people spend watching TV.

 

For over a decade, auto glass has been my whole world. I started out as a mobile glass technician, driving from parking lot to parking lot with a trunk full of resin, suction cups, and cold-knife blades — fixing chips, sealing cracks, and pulling and setting full windshields in every kind of weather you can imagine. This site is where I finally put all of that hands-on experience into words.

 

### How I got into auto glass

 

It started, funny enough, with a rock.

 

Back in **2013**, a pebble kicked up off a gravel truck and put a star-shaped chip dead in the center of my windshield. I took it to a shop and they quoted me **$380 for a full replacement**. I was broke, so I did what a lot of you probably do — I went online looking for another way.

 

Turns out, a chip that size could’ve been sealed with a **$15 resin kit** in twenty minutes. I did it myself in my driveway, watching the crack stop spreading right in front of my eyes. That little repair saved me hundreds of dollars — and honestly, it hooked me.

 

Within a year I’d apprenticed at a local glass shop, learned to do it properly, and eventually went mobile on my own. Since then I’ve repaired and replaced **thousands of windshields and windows** — from tiny bullseye chips to shattered rear glass held together with tape.

 

I’m not a chemist and I didn’t invent this stuff. I’m just a guy who’s done the job with his own two hands, thousands of times, and knows exactly where people get ripped off.

Where I *don’t* have expertise — deep ADAS software engineering, or heavy-equipment glass — I’ll say so instead of faking it.

 

## The gap that made me start this site

 

Every time I looked up auto glass advice online, I hit the same problems:

- **No honest “repair vs. replace” answer** — the one thing everyone actually wants to know.

 

When I was learning, I wanted one honest technician telling me the truth — including when the cheap fix *won’t* work. That page didn’t exist, so I built it.
