Short answer

A window tint cost calculator adds the film price for your vehicle to any extras you choose. A sedan with side and rear windows runs about $150 to $250 in dyed film and $400 to $700 in ceramic. A whole windshield adds about $150 to $300, based on 2026 published prices.

Estimated total, before sales tax

Ranges come from published 2026 price guides and shop lists, shown under the tool. They are not quotes. A local shop sets the final price after seeing the car.

How the window tint cost calculator works

The window tint cost calculator adds a published price range for your vehicle and film to a published range for each extra. Pick the vehicle, the film and the windows. Then add old film removal, a windshield, a visor strip or a sunroof. The total shows the low figures added together and the high figures added together.

The result is a planning range, not a quote. The base figures for side and rear windows come from the TintFinder installer directory. The two front window figures, the visor strip and the sunroof come from shop price lists. The removal figures come from GoodCar and shop lists. Every source is listed at the end of this page.

A real job rarely lands on both extremes at once, so the total range is wider than most quotes. Sales tax is not included. For the reasons behind each price, read the guide on how much car window tint costs.

What window tint costs by vehicle and film

Window tint on the side and rear windows costs about $100 to $1,000 or more, depending on the vehicle and the film. Larger vehicles have more glass. Ceramic film costs more than carbon, and carbon costs more than dyed.

Range chart of window tint cost for side and rear windows: coupe $100 to $550, sedan $150 to $700, pickup truck $170 to $750, SUV $200 to $900, van $250 to $1,000, split by dyed, carbon and ceramic film

VehicleDyedCarbonCeramic
Coupe$100 to $200$200 to $350$300 to $550
Sedan$150 to $250$250 to $450$400 to $700
Pickup truck$170 to $280$280 to $480$450 to $750
SUV$200 to $350$350 to $550$500 to $900
Van$250 to $400$400 to $600$600 to $1,000 or more

These figures cover side windows and the rear window on a typical job. The calculator stops the van ceramic range at $1,000, and TintFinder lists that figure as $1,000 or more. A van with extra side glass can pass it. A windshield is not part of these ranges.

How published shop prices compare

Published shop prices fall close to the guide ranges above. The table lists sedan and SUV prices from four shops that post their prices. Each shop is one local market, so treat these as examples.

Shop and placeFilm linesSedan, sides and rearSUV, sides and rear
Tinting Chicago, ILXPEL CS, XR, XR+From $249, $379, $609From $279, $409, $659
Tint Man FL, Central FloridaXPEL CS, XR, XR Plus$265, $365, $550$315, $470, $650
Blackout Window Tinting, Gilroy, CALLumar ATC, CTX, IRXFrom $380, $480, $580Same as sedan
MK Auto Design, Tulsa, OKSunTek Carbon to Evolve$275 to $525, full vehicleNot split

The base line at Tinting Chicago sits at the top of TintFinder’s dyed range for a sedan, and Tint Man FL sits just above it. The top lines at both shops sit inside TintFinder’s ceramic range. Tint Man FL labels XPEL CS as dyed and XR as black ceramic. Blackout Window Tinting charges sedans and SUVs alike, so vehicle size does not move every shop’s price. All prices were read on October 31, 2026.

What the add-ons cost

Add-ons can raise a window tint bill by about $40 to $500 each. A sunroof can be the largest single extra, because Tinting Chicago prices it by panel or size. The windshield range is narrower.

Add-onRange used in the calculatorPublished examples
Whole windshield film$150 to $300Tinting Chicago from $169 to $339; Tint Man FL $180 to $280
Visor strip$50 to $200Tint Man FL $50 to $75; Tinting Chicago $70 to $200
Sunroof, one panel$70 to $500Tinting Chicago, by panel or size
Old film removal, two front windows$40 to $150Blackout $40; Tint Man FL about $50; GoodCar $25 to $75 per window
Old film removal, sides and rear$125 to $375Blackout $150 flat; Tint Man FL about $250 on a sedan

Tint Man FL warns that it cannot guarantee the rear defroster stays undamaged during removal. Tinting Chicago bills removal at $120 an hour and adds a $100 surcharge for vehicles over 20 years old. Check whether windshield film is legal before you add it, because many states limit tint on the windshield. The state tint law checker shows your state’s rule.

Why the shade does not change most prices

Shade rarely changes the price, because shops charge by film series. Tint Man FL states that darkness does not affect its price, with 5% limo as the exception. A 35% and a 20% film from the same series usually cost the same at a shop with that policy.

Film series changes the price because shops price each film line separately. Ceramic costs more on every list in this guide. The guide on how much ceramic car window tint costs covers that difference in detail.

Shade still matters for the law. A dark film on factory-tinted glass can read below your state’s limit, because the two layers multiply. The window tint simulator previews a shade on a car and checks it against your state’s limit. The window tint percentage chart explains what each number means.

How to use the estimate when you call a shop

Use the estimate to check a quote, and ask each shop the same questions. A quote that sits far outside the range needs a reason. A low price can mean a cheaper film line or windows left out of the job. A high price can mean a premium film line or a large vehicle.

How to compare window tint quotes

  1. Name the film

Ask for the brand and series, not only the shade.

  2. Count the windows

Confirm which windows the price covers, including quarter glass and the rear window.

  3. Ask about old film

Get the removal price before the job starts, and ask about the rear defroster.

  4. Read the warranty

Ask whether the warranty covers bubbling, peeling and fading, and whether it transfers.

  5. Check the total

Ask whether the quote includes sales tax.

Tint Man FL and Tinting Chicago both list lifetime warranty terms, so ask your shop for its written terms. Doing the job yourself is a separate choice, and the guide on how to install car window tint shows the steps.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to tint a 4-door car?

TintFinder’s 2026 guide puts a sedan at $150 to $250 for dyed film, $250 to $450 for carbon and $400 to $700 for ceramic. Those figures cover the side windows and the rear window.

How much does it cost to tint just the front two windows?

Shop lists show about $109 to $120 for the base film and $149 to $249 for ceramic. Rayno gives about $50 per window for carbon. Prices vary by shop and film series.

Is ceramic tint worth the extra cost?

Ceramic costs about $200 to $600 more than dyed film on the vehicles in the table above. The ceramic tint cost guide compares published heat rejection figures, so you can judge the difference for your climate.

Does darker tint cost more?

Usually not. Tint Man FL says darkness does not affect its price, except 5% limo, and that price depends on the film series. Ask your shop, because policies differ.

Is this calculator a real quote?

No. The calculator adds published price ranges. A local shop sets the final price after it sees the vehicle, the glass and any old film.
